The Second Most Asked Question

Who is behind all of this?

Honestly, sometimes I don’t know how to answer that without sounding a little ridiculous.

It’s me.

The same person who sits and thinks about a garment from scratch is also the one who picks up the camera when it’s time to shoot it.

The one who chooses the fabric is the one figuring out how it should look in a photograph.

The one designing the clothes is the one writing the words you read here.

I take the pictures. I style them. I edit them.

I make the reels. I build the website. I put the collections together.

And somewhere between all of that, I still try to find the next thing Poonghuzhalii can become.

And I’m not doing all of this completely alone. My mother is right there with me.

While I’m buried in the designing, shooting, editing and everything that happens before an order is ready, she handles so much of what happens after, the packing, the protection, making sure everything is carefully put together before it leaves us.

There have been so many times when I’ve wished I could just hand one part of it over to someone else.

But then I realise how much of Poonghuzhalii comes from the fact that the same people who imagined it are still close enough to every little part of it.

There isn’t a big team turning an idea into a product and then another team turning that product into content. It starts with an idea.

And, most days, I follow that idea all the way through.

Maybe that’s why our Instagram became such a big part of who we are. Because I wasn’t trying to market something I didn’t make.

I was simply trying to show you what I was seeing.

And somewhere along the way, you started seeing it too.

That’s probably the most special part of all of this.

A little idea that once lived only in my head somehow made its way into your wardrobe.
