Frequently Asked Questions

For anything you are unsure about, sizing, an order, an exchange, or simply a piece you cannot stop thinking about, reach out to our team through the contact details provided on our website. We are always happier to answer a question than have you place an order with a doubt in your mind.

Yes. We ship Poonghuzhalii pieces worldwide. International orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes or other charges imposed by the destination country, which are the responsibility of the recipient.

There is no simple yes or no. Some pieces return when we find the right fabric again. Some fabrics are available only once, and some pieces are meant to remain exactly that, a small chapter that happened once. If you have your heart set on something, tell us.

We consciously keep our production considered. A number of our pieces are made to order, which allows us to make according to what is actually loved and ordered rather than producing large quantities that may never find a home.

Poonghuzhalii is a homegrown clothing and lifestyle brand from the South of India. Our pieces are made through a network of craftspeople and makers, with an emphasis on Indian textiles, thoughtful construction and small-batch production.

Because we never wanted clothing to be only about making more clothing. We wanted to look at the fabrics we grew up around, the silhouettes we already knew, and the crafts that have quietly lived beside us, and ask what else they could become. Poonghuzhalii is our answer to that question.

Simply reach out to our team with your order number and the reason for your exchange. We will check the order against our exchange policy and tell you exactly what to do next.

The piece must be unworn, unused and in its original condition, with the tags and packaging intact. We ask this because once a garment has been worn or altered, we can no longer responsibly offer it to another person.

Made-to-order pieces are created specifically for the order placed, so exchanges are subject to our exchange policy and the eligibility of the particular piece. Please check the exchange conditions before sending anything back.

We understand that choosing a size online can sometimes feel uncertain. If your order is eligible for an exchange under our exchange policy, please contact us within the specified exchange period with your order details. We will guide you through the process.

With natural fabrics, handloom textiles and artisanal processes, tiny variations in weave, texture, colour or finish can occur. These are not necessarily flaws. They are often the little signs that your piece was made by hands and not by a machine producing identical garments.

Please follow the care instructions provided for your particular garment. Our fabrics and craftsmanship deserve a little gentleness, and the right care helps the piece stay with you for much longer.

Please do not worry. Mistakes can happen, and we want to make them right. Write to us as soon as you receive the order with your order number and photographs of the issue. Our team will review it and guide you through the next steps.

Take a moment before removing the tags and packaging to make sure the piece, size and quantity are correct and that the garment has reached you safely. If something does not seem right, please contact us with your order number and clear photographs so our team can look into it.

Sometimes, yes. Some pieces can return when we are able to source the fabric again, while others may remain a one-time story. If there is something you have been waiting for, write to us, we would rather know what you are hoping to see again.

If you need to make a change, please reach out to us as soon as possible with your order number. We will check whether the order has entered production or dispatch and let you know what can still be changed.

Please read the product details and production timeline before placing your order.

Our pieces are not always ready stock, and the time mentioned on the product page is important to consider before purchasing. If you have a wedding, event, travel date or any other occasion coming up, please make sure you have enough time for the piece to be made and delivered.

Once an order is placed, we begin the process of making it.

We would always prefer that you place an order knowing and understanding the time involved, rather than place one in a hurry and have to worry about the timeline later.

Our pieces are made specifically against the orders we receive. Once an order enters production, we begin committing fabric, time and craftsmanship to it. Because of this, made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled or refunded once the order has been placed, except where required by applicable law.

We understand why this is one of the first things you may want to know.

The 25–50 business day timeline is our usual production window, not a promise that every piece will be completed on the same day. Some orders may take longer because the making of a garment depends on things outside a simple stitching timeline.

A fabric may need to be sourced or become available again. Multiple fabrics may need to be brought together for one piece. Handloom and handcrafted processes follow the pace of the people and techniques involved. Weather conditions, particularly during periods of rain, can also affect processes such as fabric handling, dyeing and drying. Sometimes a piece simply needs additional time at one stage before it is ready to move to the next.

We would rather take that additional time than hurry a garment through a process that deserves care.

If your order requires more time than the usual timeline, please know that it is because the piece is still being worked on, not because your order has been forgotten.

We kindly ask you to keep this in mind before placing your order. If you have a particular date you need the piece for, please contact us before ordering so we can tell you what may be possible.

A Poonghuzhalii piece doesn’t begin with a garment waiting on a shelf for you.

Many of our pieces are created by bringing together multiple fabrics, sometimes sourced separately, and making them work as one silhouette. We look for the right fabric, the right texture, the right fall and the right combination before the piece can even begin to take shape.

A part of our process also depends on handloom textiles and people working with their hands. Their work cannot always move at the speed of a machine. Fabric availability, weaving, dyeing, stitching and finishing all have their own pace. Even something as simple as rain can affect drying, dyeing and the movement of fabrics, which can naturally add time to the process.

This is why we don’t promise a piece simply because an order has been placed. We make it after you order it.

Our usual production timeline is 25–50 business days, depending on the piece and the work involved. Some pieces may take longer than this as well.

We know waiting for something you’ve chosen and paid for isn’t easy. But the time you are waiting is time being spent finding, making, bringing together and finishing your piece, not time spent keeping it aside.

Please read the production timeline carefully before placing your order and place your order only if you are comfortable giving the piece the time it needs.

We completely understand wanting your piece for a particular date. But unfortunately, we cannot offer an expedited production service.

The reason is simple: the parts of our process cannot always be compressed into fewer days. When a piece involves multiple fabrics, sourcing, handloom or handcrafted work, stitching and finishing, we cannot simply ask every stage to move faster.

We don’t delay your order by choice, nor do we hold pieces back unnecessarily. This is simply the time our way of making requires.

If you need a piece for a specific occasion or date, please write to us or call us before placing the order. We can check the piece and let you know whether the timeline may work for you.

No.

Our production timelines are calculated in business days. Saturdays, Sundays and applicable holidays are not counted towards the production timeline.

Some fabrics find us only in small quantities, and some crafts simply cannot be reproduced endlessly. When the fabric is gone, the piece may have to wait until we find something that feels worthy of making it again.

Not always. A large part of Poonghuzhalii is made to order. This means your piece begins its journey only after you place your order, allowing us to make thoughtfully rather than produce in excess.

Many of our silhouettes are made using multiple fabrics within a single piece. We source them individually, often from different weavers and textile sources, and bring them together only when they belong together. Each fabric has its own weave, texture, weight, fall and character and getting them to work beautifully as one garment takes time.

Once the fabrics are gathered, they are carefully matched, cut and prepared for the particular silhouette. The pieces then move through stitching, finishing and quality checks before they are finally packed and sent to you. Some of our garments also involve handloom and hand-crafted elements, which means the pace of making is naturally different from mass-produced clothing.

We follow a made-to-order model for much of Poonghuzhalii. We don’t keep every piece sitting ready in a warehouse waiting to be shipped. When you place an order, you are essentially giving us the reason to make that piece for you.

Our usual production timeline is 30–50 business days, but some pieces can take longer depending on the fabrics involved, their availability and the work required to bring the garment together. In certain cases, the process may extend beyond the usual timeline.

We know that waiting for a garment can be difficult. But this time is not spent keeping your order aside. It is spent making it.

So before placing your order, we kindly ask you to read the production timeline and product details carefully and order only if you are comfortable giving the piece the time it needs.

Thank you for allowing us to make slowly, thoughtfully and with intention.

We want the piece to feel like it was made for you, not simply picked from a size chart. Please refer to the measurements given on each product page and compare them with a garment you already own and love the fit of. If you are still unsure, our team will be happy to help you choose.

The photographs show the piece as closely as we can. But because we work with fabrics that can naturally vary in colour, texture and weave, every piece may carry little differences of its own. We see those differences as part of the fabric’s story, not imperfections.
